About Byrd’s
Byrd’s is a fresh market and gourmet restaurant located at 420 Main at Prairie. Byrd’s is a much needed amenity in downtown and Houston as a whole, offering a comfortable and affordable dining experience. Byrd’s is the “everyday place” to eat and hangout in downtown Houston.
Byrd’s offers many selections for food service:
A signature prepared food selection area featuring “grab and go” meals assembled for by our culinary staff from our fresh and unique prepared food section, a grocery section with locally grown fruits and vegetables, artisan breads and pastries from our in-house bakery, as well as select collection of food, wine, specialty items and household essentials geared to the residents of downtown. For snack time we offer fresh baked goodies hot from the oven all day as well as our handmade artisan gelatos served in our home made waffle cones.
The kitchen service area includes a wide range of food from fresh bagels, hearty breakfast sandwiches, eggs and grits for breakfast (and a fun selection of chef creations served on the weekend), burgers, grilled fish, rotisserie chicken and pastas for lunch and dinner and an array of daily special entrees created fresh by our on premise chef using organic, local seasonal ingredients. There is a wide selection of “deli select sandwiches” where we create handmade sandwiches made on our freshly baked bread with the finest meats and cheeses and handmade accoutrement all made to order. The salad selection offers chef made entrée size salads all made with local, organic, season produce created to order by our expert culinary staff.
The grocery section includes a fruit and vegetable co-op where, to keep our inventory fresh, we provide produce to surrounding restaurants, a basic grocery section with the downtown demographic in mind and a section of household necessities as well as our freshly baked breads and a dairy case with local milks and cheeses. Our international selection of wines, ales and accoutrement is another unique facet of our market. Come in and buy a bottle of wine, drink a glass or two and take the rest home. Our cheese case has something for everyone from the grilled cheese lover to the true connoisseur.
Byrd’s not only provides food to be carried out to the home or office, but also has a cozy dining area in the mezzanine and comfortable outdoor café seating with great views of downtown where you can dine in, meet with friends, access our wireless internet and get some work done, or just sit and watch the people on the bustling streets of downtown Houston.
